Duration: Full day
This southbound tour begins with a drive to Beaufort, a rural town
situated at the confluence of the Padas and Pegalan rivers. From Beaufort,
take a train/railcar ride to the upland town of Tenom.
Passing through little villages in forested hills, this single-grade railway
track then skirts the banks of the Padas river that rushes through the
Padas Gorge. This is a scenic ride not to be missed.
At Tenom, take a 20-minute bus ride to the Orchid Centre at the Agricultural
Research Station. View a fascinating collection of exotic wild and cultivated
orchids, a representation of the diverse orchid species found in Borneo.
Lunch is included. Return to Kota Kinabalu via the same route.
